Moslims in Nederland herdenken tijdens de ramadan dat profeet Mohammed vrede zij met hem de eerste openbaringen van de Koran ontving. De Ramadan is dus een bijzondere maand, maar voor sommige mensen is de ramadan ook een extra moeilijke tijd. Bijvoorbeeld omdat ze geen volwaardige maaltijd op tafel kunnen toveren, of omdat ze ver weg van hun thuis en hun dierbaren zijn en in eenzaamheid leven. Dit speelt zich helaas nog steeds af in Nederland.
