Since , Pound Buddies has evolved from a small group of volunteers, to hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of supporters throughout Muskegon County. There is a natural love for these animals because most have been through so much, they deserve a second chance. In , for the first time, Muskegon County placed animal shelter operations up for bid, as a cost saving measure. In , animal shelter services once again went up for bid.

Our adoptable dogs can be viewed by clicking the Petfinder button. To begin the adoption process please complete a My Pet Profile. You do not need to inquire about the dog on Petfinder, however please be sure to include the name s of the dog s you are interested in meeting when you complete and submit your Pet Profile. Perhaps your home is already filled with love for a dog or cat-or perhaps your lifestyle just doesn't suit pet ownership, but you want to help one of our shelter pets waiting to find their forever home. Pound Buddies welcomes pet sponsorships of any amount. Your gift could offset the cost of a vaccination , heart worm treatment or even cover the cost of an adoption! Pet sponsorship helps Pound Buddies free up valuable resources that may be required for emergency medical care, specialty foods, or many other critical needs arise every day. So while browsing our adoptable dogs, if one of our pups tug a little at your heartstrings, please consider pet sponsorship for them! Adoption Policies Pound Buddies adopts pets to people who… Are interested in adopting a dog for companionship and can provide the necessary food, shelter, exercise, training and veterinary care for the dog. Are at least 18 years of age. Have the knowledge and consent of all adults in their household. Can verify they are allowed to have a pet of the preferred breed and size where they currently live. Are adopting pets as members of their household and not solely as outdoor pets or as gifts to be given away outside their household. Will spend up to an hour with an adoption counselor to discuss the responsibility of owning a pet. Will bring all family members, including any resident dogs or children to the shelter for an introduction to the dog they are considering. It is Pound Buddies sole prerogative to determine the most appropriate home for the animals in its care and its decision is final.
