Pottery barn ornaments

Imagine having three items in front of you, a wooden magazine holder, a pack of straws, pottery barn ornaments, and a set of 6 clear orb ornaments. Cue the MacGyver theme music! Now, create a holiday display using all three items. What would you make?

I saw this globe at Pottery Barn, and kind of fell in love with it. Instead of having my globe on an axis, I decided to distinguish it by adding longitude and latitude lines. I purchased the larger bulbs at the Dollar Tree! The smaller ones, were I am guessing a Michaels purchase. I began by using a sponge sanding block, and scuffed up the bulbs surfaces just enough to create a dull surface. Use as directed.

Last year I remember complaining that stores were parallel processing, selling Thanksgiving and Christmas decor at the same time. But this year I saw Christmas ornaments in one isle and Halloween candy in the next! Now I am scrambling to get our Christmas shopping started, I mean, if they can do it, I guess I can, too. Pottery Barn is selling these absolutely gorgeous gold and mercury glass ornaments , I mean, they sure know how to do things right. I thought I'd try my hand at DIYing my own version. Use the Krylon Looking Glass as directed and spray inside of the glass ornaments. I would pay a little extra for a higher quality glass ornaments , the 80mm glass. Plan to do several very light coats of spray paint. You should dry the bulb upside down in between coats. You can add the hints of gold one of two ways. You can do a very light coat of gold spray paint, like Krylon's Metallic Spray Paint.
