PossAbilities works across the Borough of Rochdale and does not have any postcode restrictions. We work with adults between the ages of 65, who have a diagnosed mental health condition, a learning disability or a physical or sensory impairment. We also work with those people who do not fit neatly into any service, but without our support would not be able to find or keep a job. This may include those people with autistic spectrum disorders, aspergers syndrome, attention deficit disorder or severe dyslexia. Clients will be ready for employment at different times. Some are ready to job search when they first come to us, but for others it may be several years before they are ready for that level of commitment.

All these skills will help ensure that participants will become equal contributors to society, as well as superb team players in the workforce. Participants receive donations to sort and organize to go into the thrift store for sale. Inventory is also part of the process. These skills make our participants more marketable to local businesses. Vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, and taking out trash are all necessary parts of facility maintenance and daily life skills. In this program, participants take donations that may normally be discarded and either recycle them or repurpose them into new sellable items.

Our participants are matched with hands-on training and social opportunities that help build the skills, confidence and resume necessary to become gainfully employed in the community. In addition, participants have the opportunity to earn certifications in areas such as food safety, first aid, and childcare. Our goal is to provide family resources, support, and training to build confidence and skills, including self-advocacy. Crucial life skills are integrated into a variety of programs designed to enhance the life and well-being of participants. We are proud to see the accomplishments they make as they move successfully through their lives.
