No matter which species, you need to ensure they have an enclosure suited to their natural habitat, enough toys to play with, a high level of medical care from your staff, and the right amount of companions to ensure they are happy and healthy. There are a few different ways of providing this:. This is opposed to open or soft shelter, which is when you place your animal bedding outside or underneath a natural canopy. Inside a habitat it will be treated as a shelter because it has a roof. If you often do overhead viewing paths you could create an overhead area and that could be the roof and the area underneath will be classed as shelter, add walls to help keep them cool in summer and warm in winter. Just keep playing until you figure out how it works. I am still learning but creating a semicircle or square area is pretty simple even without research for the fancier items. By the way, "shelter" for animals is just based on a roof, you don't need walls to satisfy the need. While the object is selected, hold down the "Shift" key to raise and lower the piece. I have a herd time figuring how it works. It seems like animals require tons of "hard shelter". Any advice would be very much apreciated, thanx.

I cannot use any of the terrain tools besides paint they are disabled because of the scenario so I can't sculpt the land at this moment in time. However, this being said, for the shyer animals this can lead to problems where the animal retreats to the safe area, recovers, starts to exit only to be met with crowd and instantly become stressed again. Per page: 15 30 There is a heat-map for "Shelter" and when this is on, you click an animal and it will show in blue-color what areas are shelter for them. Thanks everyone for your help!
