She was looking for something young and vibrant to accompany her on the many travels she had planned for the summer holiday: Barcelona, Porto, Edinburgh… lucky her! But my sister, who has always operated by ignoring our advice usually to her benefit decided to try it out on her arm. It might be the way the almond notes interacted with the warmth of skin, but trying it on really brought the fragrance into its own. Beginning with a zingy note of bergamot, it quickly fizzles into a floral heart based around heliotrope, rose and jasmine. The base notes vanilla, tonka bean and tolu resin read very well, but never really come through to round the fragrance off in the intense way I hoped. Despite Heliotrope taking the glory of the title, the star ingredient of this scent is undoubtedly the almond — present from top to base and creating a sweet, gourmand edge. It is this note which divides opinion and makes this fragrance a real head-turner. Perfect for a summer evening, this fragrance is well worth a try, especially if you love the sweet yet creamy tones of almond.

Haven't tried the original aventus absolute but this stuff is fantastic. I have purchased around 15 pp fragrances and this is in the top 3 for me, alongside saintly S and stellarious luxe. I've been buying from PP for many years. I haven't smelled the original of this perfume. But PP's version is a lovely, natural smelling, soft, powdery floral that ticks all the boxes for me.
