The remastered Player Core book for Second Edition Pathfinder makes some substitutions for which classes are featured in their main roster. With the sorcerer shifted out of the main roster in favor of the witch, bards have a special niche as the only remastered class to wield spontaneous casting. These changes make bard suitable as a good class option for first-time players or converts from adjacent systems. With a healthy blend of spellcasting, utility skills, and support powers, they give a glimpse into many different parts of the broader game system without requiring mastery of all the individual parts. Pathfinders Bards have multiple roles they can fit into depending on the character concept you are aiming for and the class features that appeal to you the most. Among the cast of the Player Core book, they're the only class to wield charisma as their key attribute. This means they can default into a role as party diplomat unless another party member goes out of their way to specialize. The bard's unique mechanic are compositions, musical spells that provide ongoing benefits to the party. In this way, bards benefit from having a large group to receive the buffs. They pair well with classes with companions such as animal order druids. The broader identity of the bard is tied to their subclass, determined by the muse that inspires them.
In addition the Arcane Archer is now providing 7 levels of spellcasting progression. If it had enhanced utility against daylight vulnerable or light-sensitive creatures, it might be barely tolerable, in specific campaigns. The Bard gets all Knowledge skills as class skills, and Bardic Knowledge adds a heft bonus to Knowledge checks, making the Bard one of the easiest Librarians in the game with only a few skill ranks. As you grow in level you can perform as smaller actions, allowing you to quickly cycle songs and rely on Lingering Performance to keep their effects running without expending performance rounds. The biggest limitation on Bardic performance is that a bard cannot have more than one bardic performance in effect at one time. Versatile Performance Ex : Versatile Performance allows the Bard to pick up additional skills while using their Perform modifier in place of their potentially lower modifier to the original skill. When selecting your Versatile Performance skills, be sure to avoid duplicates.

There really is no excuse not to take this Stealth: A very useful skill that is based on Dex, which you likely have a level from decent to good Knowledge any : Loremaster and Bardic Knowledge aren't going to do you much good without at least one rank in each of these to activate your class skill bonus. Okay, one more observation before I have to sign out for now.
The Bard is a versatile spellcasting class that can thrive in a variety of roles. Their signature role is as a Support character, but they can also serve as a Healer, Librarian, Scout, and Utility caster depending on your build. Successful bards needs to be very comfortable with managing their action economy, tracking status conditions, and supporting the party indirectly.
A bit more situational, but I still value this feat highly. As an additional note concerning Versatile Performance, be wary of taking Oratory and Acting or Dancing as your first two performances. Even though it costs your whole party their full actions you are now placing all the actions on the party member with the most effective actions to take that round. Only the Arcane Focus alt racial trait is worth thinking about. If the spell is already in your Spell Repertoire, it becomes a Signature Spell for you for the day. This means you trip the guy in melee with your party brute. Remember that wherever you put your boosts will be a trade. The maestro excels in doing what bards already want to be doing and is always a strong choice. OK - I think I need to break this down. I didn't think that was legal.
