Oolacile
Oolacile Township oolacile located after the fight with Knight Artorias. It is a sprawling city filled with enemies determined to stop the player from reaching its depths, oolacile.
Dusk was the princess of Oolacile at the time it was attacked by the abyss. She was saved by a knight she believes to be Artorias and thus survived the destruction of Oolacile, becoming the only known survivor. At some point after her rescue she became trapped in a golden crystal golem in what was to become the Darkroot Basin. In stasis inside the crystal, she was preserved until present day. Should the player choose to free her, she will offer to teach them the light-manipulating sorceries of Oolacile.
Oolacile
Oolacile was a kingdom that existed in Lordran, in the area now known as Darkroot Garden , about three or four centuries before the events of Dark Souls. As Dusk , Princess of Oolacile, states, Oolacile was a land of sorceries, but the sorceries featured by Oolacile's Sorcerers were very different. She also states that the lost kingdom has been "reduced to ashes" long ago. This would explain why there's practically nothing left of the Township or the Sanctuary in the present. Oolacile's fall is mysterious and sinister: in times of peace in the kingdom, Oolacile's inhabitants were convinced by a dark serpent to dig up the grave of the Primeval Man. Then, something happened, and the Primeval Man was transformed into a beast that unleashed the Abyss. The Abyss, corrupted dark, destroyed Oolacile and transformed its inhabitants as well. Artorias the Abysswalker , in order to hunt Darkwraiths servants of the Dark had entered a covenant with an unnamed creature from the Abyss, and received a ring that would allow him to traverse the Abyss unharmed. Naturally, Artorias soon came to Oolacile in hopes of stopping the spread of the Abyss. It is not certain if he knew at the time of the severity of the situation, or of the existence of Manus, but, in the end, he would either never come to face the Father, or would would be defeated by him. In current day, the Chosen Undead is dragged off to the past by Manus if specific requirements are met, traveling to the land of Oolacile. Approaching the area where Dusk is initially saved, with the Pendant in one's possession, will reveal a shadowy portal. Below Oolacile, the sorcerers of the land discover "Dark" sorcery, sorcery that uses the power of Humanity, the powerful life force in all humans. This sorcery was very powerful, and extremely lethal, and quickly became the sole focus of the sorcerers.
Before heading all the way down the steps, find a Large Soul of a Proud Knight on a roof to your left, oolacile. Approaching the area where Oolacile is initially saved, with oolacile Pendant in one's possession, will reveal a shadowy portal, oolacile. It was just seconds after the blow from my greataxe landed, that a vague memory of a mushroom asking me to save a princess resurfaced.
An area similar to Undead Burg, it is only accessible after the Player has defeated Knight Artorias and is crowded with hostile Oolacile Residents and Oolacile Sorceress. Though quite linear, the trick of that map is its high falling range and an enemy placing on hideous places. As the bonfire is close to many shortcuts, and the way to the next one might become a bit long don't be afraid to light it up to 15 or 20 Estus. The first thing visible upon entering will be a Bonfire. This is also used as a warp point once you aquire the Lord Vessel. The Oolacile Township is a fairly straight forward zone. As you venture in there will be a few branching paths, but only one route will allow the player to progress further. All others end quickly, often times with an item or two at the end. You will find two new enemies here. The first is a small humanoid enemies that resembles the undead from earlier in the game, with longer limbs and a large object on their head. They are fairly simple to kill but pack a solid punch so make sure to dodge or block incoming blows.

Before going any further, return to the room in which you fought Artorias. Since she is not a merchant and only appears once per playthrough if you leave she disappears for good , we highly recommend you kill her. You must witness this to trigger a conversation dialog later. Now, finally, go back and simply descend through Oolacile Township. Be very wary of the Dark Orb spells that the sorcerers cast. These spells are fast and incredibly damaging. When you reach the point pictured above, elect to go right and roll off the ledge where the railing is broken. Follow the walkway across to the adjacent building. Head down the stairs along the side and go into the structure.
