Ono is one of Kion 's closest friends, a former member of the Ono lion guard Guardand a current member of the Night Pride. His specialties are his keen eyesight and his intelligence.

He is a small egret and one of Kion 's friends and a former member of the Lion Guard. His position on the team was the Keenest of Sight. When Ono becomes vision-impaired after rescuing Bunga from falling to his demise, he gives his position to Anga who later joins the Lion Guard while he becomes the first ever Smartest of the Pride Lands since the episode " Battle for the Pride Lands ". Ono is described as an intellectual and brainy egret. He never hesitates to take to the air and seek out animals in help, and will sometimes act even before Kion asks him to. Ono is loyal to Kion and rarely questions his leader. Despite his sharp social skills and optimism, Ono is exceptionally blunt and able to lay out his feelings without any sugar-coating.

Kion's team also gets a new member, a martial eagle named Anga who replaces Ono's position as the keenest of sight after Ono temporarily loses his eyesight, while he gains a new position as the smartest.

Ona is a young female hamerkop that resides in the Pride Lands. She is the daughter of Kulinda. As a hatchling,Ona's feathers are pale gray, flecked with white and brown. She has a crest of gray feathers atop her head. Her legs and beak are blue, with dark blue bands and tip on her feet, and her eyes are black. As a youngling, Ona's feathers change from gray to brown and her eyes are brown and she has grown a little taller. Ona is very loving, curious, and playful, with a tendency for running straight into trouble. She is also very fond of insects.
