Having said that, it is also a really beautiful film that was made with a lot of good intentions and heart.

Though Endre tries to befriend her, she quickly becomes uncomfortable with the interaction and rudely comments on his lame left arm, believing it may be a factor into his favorite food in the cafeteria. The workers are asked questions on the history of their sexuality and physical development, as well as what they dreamed the night before. However, Endre has grown pessimistic about their budding relationship and calls it off. He sleeps with another woman, though the encounter leaves him disappointed. After getting her wound bandaged, she goes to Endre's home, where they make love. After falling asleep, they wake up to realize that neither of them dreamed the night before. The website's critical consensus reads, "Tender performances and a strong sense of style combine to create an eccentric, dreamy portrait of love and loneliness in On Body and Soul.

Obviously, fate has determined they are a perfect match but Maria's disorder is so severe she frightens Endre off when he tries to connect with her. I think it has to do with them finding their soul mates. However, the summary isn't exactly right. Endre is attracted to Maria, and he tries to converse with her, but she has difficulties talking with people due to her extreme social issues similar to autism. If I had one of those Oscars in my hand I never thought twice to hand it to director. You can smell the sweat and blood and life. I also loved the two characters: both are slightly handicapped, one physically and the other one emotionally. Nothing is left to chance based on a few other reviews for this film, this fact seems not be clear to all reviewers - e. But you know how Oscars work nowadays so my expectations were really low. In absolute contrast, there is great, serene beauty of a small lake in the middle of a snow-covered forest, with a deer or two or doe, a deer, a female deer trotting about leisurely, staying absolutely still at times, and occasionally taking a drink of water. Over time, the two slowly share their dreams and attempt to have some sort of normal interaction. About one third into the move, you find out what this is all about.
