Being able to drink in such architectural splendour you just know you are in the beating heart of historic London. Just prior to lockdown mark I in March and I jumped at the chance to explore prior to the works starting. Other than a lifelong love affair with pubs the genesis of LPE was urban exploring so this was a treat for me. The vault safes, that once held gold bullion, now accommodate bottles of wine and spirits and it was incredible to take in and wonder what it was like as a fully functioning stronghold.

The Old Bank of England is the grandest of the lot, and is indeed an old offshoot of that institution, formerly used as an adjunct to the Law Courts until the s.
