We could tell for certain if you take a photo of the soundhole from more of an angle, but even in the photo you provided there appears to be a darker-colored layer of wood in there. The wood of the inside of the back, as seen through the soundhole, appears to be luan, often sold as "Philippine mahogany.
The Degenerate followed as my take on the double cut, odessa guitar, initially I wanted fewer odessa guitar and transitions and a more Spartan visual than the DeadBeat. About this model:. This is where it all started for Odessa. An offset body shape that evokes the golden age of guitar design but with thoroughly modern appointments. The DeadBeat combines no-nonsense aesthetics with precisely planned practicality. Everything feels as it should…from the subtle stomach cut and forearm bevel to the upper fret access and placement of the controls, the DeadBeat is instantly familiar. Neck timbers — usually Maple, but happy to use other timbers, just ask. Scale Length — happy to accommodate most scale lengths, just ask. Hardware — essentially your choice, but Hipshot tuners and bridges work well with my builds.

The top does appear to be solid as the texture of the grain goes all the way through the top. Strung up and looking rather good indeed, needless to say I was over the moon when this photo was kindly sent over to me. We could tell for certain if you take a photo of the soundhole from more of an angle, but even in the photo you provided there appears to be a darker-colored layer of wood in there. Wondering If you have one in stock??? I'm happy to say that one of them, Mike Wiltshire of Odessa Guitars, has agreed to an interview here on the Home of Tone blog! I feel this is an exciting time to be a fan of guitar design. Over the moon with the tuner and bridge choice, both Hipshot products are incredibly well made, look very fitting with the guitar's design and boy, are those tuners damn good indeed. It looks like it's in excellent condition. The aesthetic pointers are just awesome to me, a very inspiring instrument to look at, and it hangs in my office as a continued distraction from working! My guess is that this guitar dates from the 's most likely or early 's. Hi Mindy! If you're interested in Mike's work, you can check out his website and social media via the links below.
