Earlier this year, we proudly announced a brand new watch with the independent brand Nivada Grenchen. The chronograph complication is something most watch lovers enjoy. Just as a bracelet or a well-picked leather strap can too. Yet, what sets this watch apart is the five different dial variations, a first in the history of Fratello collaborations. Panda, reverse panda, tropical, black, and white; everyone can find a color or style that matches their personality. However, one common thing about all of them is the racing scale that we took from a vintage Nivada model of the 70s. The only change: we used orange instead of red for the scale and the chrono hand. The rarely-seen Nivada Grenchen Chronosport's district tonneau silhouette was perfect for our vision. So, we took that case as inspiration, changed the rotating bezel to a fixed steel number, and sized the case up to a more modern 38mm. Measuring only The bullet-style bracelet wonderfully tapers to 16mm on the buckle end from 20mm at the lugs. A superb vintage feel that puts the focus on the watch more so than on the bracelet.

This was true of Nivada — a company which, under that name, was a reliable if not internationally renowned part of the pre-Quartz watch scene. The company is better known under the name Nivada Grenchen in the USA, or under the name Croton — there was apparently a kerfuffle with the Movado watch company in the s over a perceived by Movado similarity in names, and the claim was made by Movado that this might lead to consumer confusion over which company was which.
