Before Dusk HD ballooned into a full overhaul of the game's graphics , it was meant to be a companion piece to an oft-requested feature for the beloved boomer shooter: a full software development kit SDK for modders to run wild with, alongside Steam Workshop support for those mods. The studio head was maybe? Dusk HD might have gotten carried away and become this crazy project, but at the end of the day, it's supposed to be a showcase for what you can do with a five-year-old game and the added modules. To that end, maybe the coolest thing about the SDK is its ability to load map files from a bevy of classic FPS engines. It just works. Just throwing a thought out there I just think it'd be nice if perhaps more people from the Doom community used the site. It doesn't have to be a replacement for idgames or anything. What I find annoying is that long term WIP projects for Doom have a tendency to rely on very fleeting file hosting services, which regularly sweep uploads that are deemed to not be active enough. Uploading your files to Nexus automatically distributes it to several mirrors, and you can also upload screenshots for the project page. I think this would be much more future-proof compared to relying on the plethora of nondescript file sharing sites. Not sure how many people would be interested in classic doom stuff, but it'd be more exposure anyway. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. Yet, I can't seem to quickly find a figure for even that statistic At any rate, I find it hard to believe Skyrim would beat Doom out - possible, but hard to believe. For the record, Skyrim has about ignoring adult mods on the Skyrim Nexus, or on the Steam Workshop, which covers the two most popular places to get Skyrim mods from - and there's almost certainly overlap between the two. I mean, in my head, the answer is almost certainly Doom due to seniority and just how friggin' easy it is, relatively speaking with ample documentation for practically any facet you'd want to modify , although serious contenders would include any post- Morrowind entry in The Elder Scrolls , various The Sims games, Quake , Half-Life I'm not sure whether 1 or 2 has more - mods for Garry's Mod would count for HL2 , for what that's worth or one of the Unreal Tournament s. Of course this stuff isn't really comparable since you can make a fun Elma level in just a few minutes.
And yet, when the series went into hibernation, the genre moved away from the fast-paced, in-your-face, non-stop action that the series was built upon. Then, we got the reboot in that reminded everyone of what a shooter that was built to be pure, adrenaline-fueled, guitar-blasting, blood-soaked fun could be. The sequel, Doom Eternal , upped the complexity of the combat loop without damaging it. From upgrades to the graphics, new gameplay modes, balance changes, and more, we have pulled together the best mods you can download to keep the fight against the demonic hoards fresh. Check out all the mods listed below at nexusmods. The original Doom was created by two legendary Johns: Romero and Carmack. Neither John works on the current Doom games, but this mod pays homage to Carmack and his dedication to pushing the technical boundaries by re-shading the game to provide more depth and color to the environments. While Carmack had nothing to do with the previous mod or game itself, this modder found that there were some graphical options left on the cutting room floor at ID.

Doom has long been one of the best FPS franchises, and Doom Eternal holds up this legacy with its campaign, combat, and level design. However, once you play through the game a few times, it can start to get a bit dull, especially when there is nothing new to experience. Fortunately, the modding community has created no shortage of great mods, and these 10 are the best you can find on the Nexus! While there are a ton of mods for Doom Eternal on Nexus, not all of them are compelling enough to make you want to replay the game. Kicking off our list is a mod that aims to make your next playthrough of Doom Eternal a little more colorful! This Custom UI Color Pack compiles a ton of different color schemes into a single mod, and the results are really awesome. These color schemes really help make your UI stand out a lot more, and our personal favorite is Immora, which changes things to red and yellow. The Fallen Angel skin is one of the most popular in the game, but what if we told you it could look even better? Well, this mod adds an improved texture to the skin, and it changes the mask from red to grey with a single glowing red eye. There are even two variants of this skin, one that is just the armor and the other that animates dancing flames around the mask.

Yeah, that thread has a lot of terrible posts with people demonstrating condescending attitude, as if they were better people because they think they can map better, acting like they're doing him a service by "improving" his maps. I am not gonna try z mod yet, but for a bug u would have missed. Some years ago, I wondered if you could somehow find a way to measure the total area of a map and convert it to real-world units; then you could calculate if all the WADs available for download would contain enough playing area to cover the entire Earth. If you find the minimap difficult to use, then the Better Minimap mod allows you to adjust it in a few ways: making it bigger, making it transparent, removing the border entirely, or changing it to a compass-only mode.
