WCSC - A strong storm system will bring an increased chance of a rain and storms as we get ready to head into the upcoming weekend. Dry weather will continue for most of today despite clouds becoming widespread as we head into the afternoon. Highs will top out in the low 70s early this afternoon but a breeze will pick up out of the east leading to a cooler feel compared to recent days. A small chance of a shower will be with us for our Friday evening plans but the rain chance really increases overnight and early Saturday morning. A few rumbles of thunder are possible too. Saturday will be a day with scattered rain and storms. There will be dry stretches as times but there will also be wet times and the potential for strong to severe storms.

Saturday will be a Storm Tracker Day as there could be gusty winds, hail, an isolated tornado, and flooding High tide on Saturday near 7am is slated to be in minor flood stage, roughly around 7. Rain totals are projected to be roughly 1 to 2 inches, so flash flooding will be possible. The storm system slides offshore Saturday night allowing drier weather to return for the second half of the weekend.
A storm off the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic coast will bring the risk for heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding starting Friday and lasting through the weekend. On Friday, the storm was expected to produce very heavy rain with rainfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour for portions of Florida and southern Georgia. By Saturday, the heaviest rain will shift north and east to spread across the coastal Carolinas. Wind gusts were forecast to be as strong as 60 mph along the coast, and rainfall amounts were expected to be 1 to 3 inches with locally higher totals of up to 5 inches in spots.
