This is not what they promised, is it?

By Sebastian Murphy-bates For Mailonline. Parents who fear panic-buying in the event of a Brexit that does not include a trade deal with the EU are hoarding non-perishables. Mumsnet users have shared so-called hamster lists detailing the food they are stocking up on. Even people who do not fear that a 'no-deal' exit from the bloc are filling their cupboards in case those who are scared empty their local supermarket shelves. It comes after after a former adviser to environment secretary Michael Gove warned some food imports, including seasonal fruits, could be affected. Mumsnet users say they are stocking up on tinned food as they fear panic buying might set in if there's a no-deal Brexit file photo. Though he reassured the public that they would not go without the food they need, mothers are stocking up on pasta, baked beans and tinned fruit.

No, I don't regret Brexit at all. The UK is doing well making new trade deals around the world and the only European country in the Pacific trade deal. I think a few big events came shortly after Brexit, Covid and the war in Ukraine which had a bad impact on many countries but Remainer's just love to claim any bad impact came from Brexit. Yes and no. It could have been done better but I feel once Whitehall has decided it doesn't want to do something then it won't- think Sir humphrey appleby. Everyone assumes brexit and immigration but my thinking wasn't that, it was purely making our country more sufficient such as buying more UK products - yes we can't survive alone but there is a whole world to trade with. I felt the eu didn't particularly like us and I it changed alot from the original agreement in the 70s. Like what? I think this is the key - but I also think the UK doesn't make anything anymore. Simply not true. We've got one of the biggest tech sectors and biggest creative arts sectors in the world. Our food is made to the highest and most sustainable standards and therefore in demand all over the world.

Brexit Megathread - Part 2 because it's not over by a long shot

It all seems so pointless doesn't it, I feel sorry that some- probably many- people were duped into voting for it, I feel annoyed that the 48 percent who voted remain have been completely ignored, annoyed about all the divisions it has caused our country and all the rows, and overall just really fed up with the state we are in now. I thought it would be getting better by now but actually feel worse about it now than I did at the time. Completely agree. Things are getting worse. People were lied to weren't they, it's outrageous really when you think about it. I think we are all so worn down as a country now, we seem to just be accepting things getting worse all the time.

Business groups and unions are urging the government not to go ahead with plans to ditch a wide range of EU laws, warning the move could cause "confusion and disruption" in the UK. They warned the bill would put vital protections at risk. Downing Street said it wanted to take "advantage of the benefits of Brexit". The UK copied over the laws to smooth its exit from the EU on 31 January , and kept them during a transition period that ended in January Since then, the country has moved away from EU laws in certain areas, including on immigration, payments to farmers, and gene-editing rules for crops. But thousands of regulations - known as "retained EU law" - remain in force.

Genuinely curious. I can't see how it has improved things at all. Apparently Brexit could have been great but the nasty Europeans are punishing the UK for our independence of spirit. Oh ffs you are not genuinely curious, you have made your own mind up which is fair enough, but you just want to start yet another argument about the pros and cons which has been going on for almost the last ten years. What kind of perverse satisfaction do you get from starting yet another thread. It would be interesting if those who voted that they still think Brexit was a good idea, to tell us exactly why , and what benefits we have seen from it. But they won't, will they? Because - beyond prejudiced nationalism and a yearning for the days of the Empire - there aren't any. These threads are so annoying.
