The 1st book where the fairy Morgana is met, the Life of Merlin, is written morgana merlin by a Welsh monk, Geoffroy of Monmouth. In this book, Morgana, healer, astrologer, morgana merlin, magician, is able to fly in the form of a bird.

Growing up in the household of Gorlois, Morgana and Gorlois are led to believe that they are father and daughter. When she is ten years old, Gorlois dies in battle and Morgana goes to live with her biological father, Uther Pendragon and grows up like siblings with Arthur Pendragon. Morgana isn't a queen-to-be, nevertheless she has a high rank in Camelot, as Uthers ward. In the first three seasons Morgana lives in Camelot and has a serving girl, named Guinevere short: Gwen , who she is close friends with, despite their different ranks. Their friendship ends when Morgana turns against Camelot and leaves the kingdom and they develop a hostile relationship to each other, since Morgana wants to take her rightful place on the throne of Camelot and can't stand to see Gwen, who is in love with Arthur, sitting on the throne as queen instead. In season five Guinevere is kidnapped by Morgana and manipulated to believe that she can trust only Morgana and no one else, but the spell is broken by Merlin and Arthur a few episodes later.

Morgana Pendragon was the illegitimate daughter of Uther Pendragon , the second daughter and the youngest child of Vivienne , the paternal half-sister of Arthur , the younger maternal half-sister of Morgause and the adopted daughter of Gorlois. Originally a kind-hearted individual, Morgana became evil after being corrupted by Morgause and being betrayed by her former-friend Merlin. She subsequently turned against her family and friends, even helping to cause the death of her own father; she was ruthlessly determined to take over Camelot and allowed nothing to stand in her way. Morgana has been shown to have formed a bond with Mordred , whom Kilgharrah has foreseen would kill Arthur before Mordred betrayed her to Arthur , and she also formed a close bond with the young dragon , Aithusa , who saved her life. According to Uther Pendragon , when Morgana's presumed father Gorlois was away fighting on the Northern Plains, her mother Vivienne had a brief affair with Uther Pendragon and later gave birth to Morgana. As she was born in the house of Gorlois , no one doubted her parentage. Morgana also stated that, as a child, she used to help Gorlois with his armour. She remained with her family until she was about ten years old, at which point Gorlois was killed by enemies of Camelot because Uther failed to send his best friend the promised reinforcements. As a result of Gorlois' death, Morgana was placed in Uther's care. It was stated by Uther himself that Morgana fought him from the beginning and was never afraid to speak her mind. As a young girl, she often practiced swordplay with her childhood companion, Arthur , and according to her, used to beat him with a sword, though he would later deny this.

This alienation is turned both inward and outward making her deeply dangerous to herself and others. This led to a magical duel between the two, morgana merlin, which Emrys narrowly won.

Grew Up… as the ward of Uther Pendragon, king of Camelot. She was raised with Arthur, the crown prince, and the two act as siblings to each other. Living… in the castle. Arthur tries to reason with her and asks what happened to her, but she tells him she grew up. When Morgana learnt that Uther was mortally wounded, she expressed cold pleasure and claimed she hoped her face would haunt him in his final moments. But in the beginning, it shows someone who lives in the duality of wanting to assert herself and someone who absorbed the social rules she was raised with. At a young age, Morgana discovers that she sometimes dreams of things that afterwards come to pass. After she learns that Merlin plans to go to the Crystal Cave to get his magic back, she plans to end him once and for all. He finds Morgana and begs her not to continue. This shifts her schema farther into negative ones and worsens her ability to think in shades of grey. She also actively caused her father's death when she was informed that Arthur planned to use magic to save Uther by enchanting a necklace to reverse any healing spell and worsen the ailment tenfold. He specifies that she is the daughter of Ygraine and the Duke Cornwall, thus the sister of Arthur. Morgana is, for all intents and purposes, a noblewoman. During the fight, Morgana enchants Arthur's sword, multiplying its weight and making it nearly unbearable. He believed that the draughts, which essentially drugged her so that she could not dream, were the best treatment, and was angry when Merlin argued with him about it. At this point, it is driven by the anger she has for Uther and his treatment of others. He, believing that he could not abandon her and understanding what she was going through, ignored the two The Nightmare Begins. She joins Morgause in her regicidal ambitions and eventually operates alone in trying to kill Arthur.
