Monsters in turn all have different elemental allegiances, and so they'll deploy specific elements against you in battle and in turn be weak to others if you choose to use them in battle. Choosing the best weapon with elemental damage that suits your target and armor and armor skills to match can sersiously turn the tide of even the most difficult battle. Other elements let you hinder monsters with debilitating status effects. However, what do these different elements do, and what makes each of them unique? We're here to help. Elements are best split into 2 separate groups - Damage Elements and Status Ailments.

During my first run I remember avoiding some weapons such as the Longsword because someone told me that with them the raw damage would matter more than the element, and so there would be no point for me to craft all the cool elemental swords, thus I ended up playing with Dual Blades instead. Thinking about a second run, reading something online, today I read somewhere that Iceborn actually buffed elemental damage, so I might have been given wrong informations the first time around! So I ask you guys now to set things straight on this. And also to help me choose the weapon for the next run, consider that I do want a reason to craft the elemental weapons, therefore I won't play weapons that do not offer one. Essentially I'm looking for a weapon that's fun to play, but also for which you would want to go for the various elemental variants - would be possible to show me a list of choices organized from weapon that benefit the most from elemental dmg to the one that benefit less, escluding the ones for wich raw dmg is always preferred? Most raw weapons still have higher stats and in majority of cases, outdamages elemental weapon of the same rank. The only two weapons where you absolutely need to get all element are Dual blade and Bow.
I believe there are some rebalance mods out there that increases elemental damage for some weapons but I'm not familiar with this field.

Most of the weapons, bows, have a number for elemental damage but a few have that number in parenthesis, what does that mean for the damage?
