Just before this time, she began an internship at the Andrews Center in Tyler, Texas, in hopes of finding a long-term career path. On her second day, she was pulled into the Autism Outreach program to help with filing and experienced her first taste of what would eventually develop into a passion. After that day, she never left that unit to pursue other opportunities, as she had finally found her calling. Rachel stayed at Autism Outreach as an intern for several months until she was offered a full-time position as a Behavior Technician in January of where she was primarily responsible for teaching parents strategies related to ABA. In , Rachel started working for an in-home ABA company for a couple of years where she gained experience working with children aged from 2 to 22 with varying diagnoses. In November , she sat for the BCBA exam and successfully received her certification on her first attempt. During this time, she also supervised over 90 interns from different local colleges and helped to educate and provide meaningful experiences working with the autism population. Rachel is a member of the State of Texas ABA organization known as TxABA and enjoys being involved in public policy changes regarding the insurance coverage of autism-related services.
