The Joker of the Flashpoint timeline was a criminal alias adopted by Martha Wayne. Having lost her son during a botched robbery, she lost her sanity and began committing crimes operating with a comedy-related MO. Martha's Joker would serve as the arch-nemesis of the timeline's Batman , her husband Thomas Wayne. Martha Wayne's history presumably matches that of her prime-universe counterpart up until one night in Crime Alley. Rather than dying at a mugger's hands , Martha and Thomas survived whilst their son died when Thomas fought with him over. Due to grief and possible depression, Martha lost touch with reality and mutilated herself by cutting open her cheeks into a "smile". After murdering their faithful butler Alfred over not being able to find her pearl necklace , Martha was committed to Arkham Asylum. When Thomas began operating as their universe's Batman, she broke out and became their timeline's incarnation of the Joker. The Joker began a criminal career at some point after her husband became its incarnation of Batman. She was often assisted by a henchwoman called Yo-Yo , who used weaponized yo-yos.
