Lost to the ages quest
In ancient times, the Dwemer constructed four city-states led by the great research center of Arkngthamz in the Reach. Their purpose remains unknown, but the city-states were undefeatable and held their ground against attacking Nords for centuries. Lost to the ages quest, in the midst of the First Era, all four city-states suddenly collapsed within three years.
The quest details the investigation of a lost ancient Dwemer secret and the search for four pieces of solid Aetherium. It can be started by locating and reading a copy of the book The Aetherium Wars. It can also be started by entering Arkngthamz and talking to Katria , skipping directly to the second part of the quest. In Arkngthamz, I met Katria, the ghost of an adventurer who perished there. She offered to join me in my fight to the summit, and I accepted her help. Upon arriving at Arkngthamz, the earth will quiver, followed by a disembodied voice that can be heard warning the Dragonborn to turn back.
Lost to the ages quest
After having found all four Aetherium Shards , Katria directs the Dragonborn to the Ruins of Bthalft where the legendary Aetherium Forge is rumoured to be. In the Ruins of Bthalft, visit the central, celestial-looking sculpture on a platform, and place the shards into it. A rumble occurs but nothing more. Katria suggests to retrieve the shards that have now been neatly placed in a gear-like object, the Aetherium Crest. More rumbling. Katria then warns the Dragonborn to quickly step back from the platform. Shorty thereafter a Dwemer elevator shaft shoots out of the ground, making way to the forge. Enter the elevator to the forge, and dive into the depths. Follow the path through the huge cave, until reaching a closed off gate. Here Katria suggests activating the two resonators above the gate, by shooting at them. Finally the Dragonborn enters the impressive chamber of the Aetherium Forge. This activates nine Dwarven Spiders and six Dwarven Spheres that need to be defeated.

Dawnguard is a DLC for Skyrim that came out in It introduced a vampire-versus-werewolf plotline, a new weapon the Crossbow , and two new organizations to join. However, you may not have realized that one of your miscellaneous tasks was actually unlocked by Dawnguard, too! The quest "Lost to the Ages" was also added with the Dawnguard expansion, and starts off as an innocuous miscellaneous item - you may have just scrolled right by it dozens of times. However, if you're trying to clear out your quest journal, you'll need to finally figure out what's up with Arknthamz.
Upon completion of the quest you recieve the achievement of the same name. Upon entering Arkngthamz you will begin hearing a voice saying to turn back. Rumbling and groaning from minor earth shifts will happen spilling minor dirt up from time to time as well as large chunks of rock falling from the ceiling to the water in the chasm below. When you enter the first main cavern the spirit of Katria will greet you and say how foolhardy you are to enter this place. Accept her assistance to journey deeper and you will begin Lost to the Ages as a quest proper. Fight your way upwards through falmer and charus until you reach another large cavern where 3 locked doors and 5 tonal locks await you. If you have picked up katria's journal from her dead body in the first large chamber it gives you the first two in order that you need to hit, a scrap of paper on an adventurer in the tonal lock room gives you the 3rd. The Correct pattern is fairly easy to deduce from these clues.

Almost like As you make your way through the tunnel, two Dwarven spider workers will jump out of the pipe in the ceiling and attack. The Aetherial Staff is probably the least useful, though the ability to summon Dwarven Spiders or Spheres is a unique power that isn't available by any other means. Next, there will be a room with a raised bridge. Once you have hit the right combination, the two side doors will swing wide open and you will have access to the treasury of Arkngthamz without interference from the imprisoned Centurion. I didn't make it. I had a lead on that, too. Dwarves called them 'Kinetic Resonators'. Gameplay Basics. Not until I find the Forge, until I can prove that it was my discovery. PC Katria may sometimes never show up to the Ruins of Bthalft.
Introduced into Skyrim with the Dawnguard DLC , Lost to the Ages is an extensive sidequest that sees the player delve into multiple Dwemer ruins to uncover the mysteries of Aetherium, as well as uncover the long-lost Aetherium Forge. Although the quest can be quite long, it is well worth the effort, especially if the player is interested in Dwemer artifacts and history. Lost to the Ages will not only take players inside completely new Dwemer ruins, but also have them traversing the entire map of Skyrim in search of the illusive Aetherium Shards that make up the main focus of the storyline alongside the ghost of an explorer on a similar quest, Katria.
The first entry in Katria's journal, aside from Arkngthamz, talks about a place called Bthar-zei, which is very easily confused with the Dwemer ruin Bthardamz but is, in fact, found in Deep Folk Crossing, found northeast of Markarth and near Bruca's Leap Redoubt. Speak with Katria and go straight to the tonal locks. Afterwords, type disable and then enable.
