The title of the series is taken from Lorien in the Lord of the Rings by J. Tolkien, also called Lothlorien, it is an Elf realm in Middle Earth. In the Lord of the Rings, the Ent character Treebeard describes the full name as meaning "dreamflower", the element Lorien means dream. The first book of The Lorien Legacies was released on August 3, The Loric are a nearly extinct race of extraterrestrials due to a deadly battle with another alien race, the Mogadorians. Now the Mogadorians intend to finish the job.
