The Longmont Museum will host a watercolor paint and sip on Thursday. At the new studio, amateur artists pay to paint while a professional offers tips. Hahn, an Erie resident, had been running a day care facility out of her home for the past few years but was looking for something different. Before day care, her background was in marketing, but she had no desire to go back to work in corporate America, she said. The two friends, who share a love of painting, visited the Denver studio for a night of fun, not to scout out a potential business opportunity. Such businesses, which are becoming popular around the country, charge amateurs a fee for a chance to paint while getting tips from a professional artist. Enjoying a glass of wine or a Colorado microbrew adds to the fun. But their fun night out planted the idea for a new business, as well.
