Coffee is just lokomotive coffee, right? They started out purchasing and completely remodeling their Airstream Safari Land Yacht with the goal to launch their mobile trailer while they finished repairing their brick-and-mortar location at Center Street. Johnathon Pezzino, a Jupiter High alumnus, and Sydney Jacobson own the Lokomotive and started to explore local businesses to find inspiration for their own coffee shop.

In a hearing Wednesday before Magistrate Leonard Rubin, town officials largely won out. Rubin directed property owner Vincent Pezzino to move The Lokomotive's trailer off Old Dixie and into a nearby driveway within two weeks and away from the Center Street property permanently by mid-November. If those terms aren't met, Pezzino can be fined. Planning and Zoning Director John Sickler said, however, they can't use the trailer to sell coffee along Old Dixie or in the driveway at Center Street. The hearing was a frustrating conclusion to a difficult saga with the town, JP Pezzino said. He and Jacobson opened the business last September, initially offering free coffee and accepting donations for Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahamas. It quickly became a hip place to grab a drink. The Lokomotive still plans to open a brick-and-mortar location after construction concludes at Center Street in the next few months. The elder Pezzino told Rubin he envisions the coffee shop operating alongside some sort of retail use. He already arranged for a large mural depicting historical Jupiter scenes on the building's east facade. But the trailer has been closed since late July because of the code dispute, JP Pezzino said.
