The soundtrack to Disney's "Frozen" was not an immediate success. When the album first hit the shelves in Novemberit didn't make the top 10 on the Billboard albums chart. Over the holidays, something magical happened. Families flooded theaters to see it "Frozen" was the first No.

One of the many perks of being a parent is that you can say no sometimes. So we watch the video maybe twice a day, which is eminently bearable. More importantly: in my humble opinion, the scene is a masterpiece. The more I watched, the more fascinated I became, studying it more and more carefully, finding more and more worth studying. That led to watching other clips from the movie, until finally I broke down and re-watched the whole thing. I had seen Frozen twice before. The first time was in the theater, when I was in the depths of my depression, and it cheered me up for a couple of hours. Some quick context. When Elsa comes of age, she is crowned Queen of Arendelle, but an argument with Anna makes her lose control of her emotions, and her power flares up, horrifying everyone. Elsa flees into the mountains alone. Cue music. The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, Not a footprint to be seen. Setting the stage. When she talks about seeing no footprints, of course she means that nobody else is around, but notice how her cape obscures her own tracks too.

It was released in Europe on 15 September through Republic Records as the first single from Bay's second extended play of the same name. It was included on Bay's debut studio album Chaos and the Calm A week after that, the song entered the top 10 of the chart, peaking at number A remix by Jack Steadman was released in Gregory Robson of AbsolutePunk called "Let It Go" a "rising current of despondency, heartache and powerhouse vocals" and "the clearest example of who exactly Bay is, that is, supple instrumentation, gauzy textures and that ageless croon". PDF Playlist. The song was performed in its original show-tune version in the film by American actress and singer Idina Menzel in her vocal role as Queen Elsa. Anderson-Lopez and Lopez also composed a simplified pop version with shorter lyrics and background chorus which was performed by actress and singer Demi Lovato over the start of the film's closing credits. A music video was separately released for the pop version. The song presents Queen Elsa, who flees her kingdom when she publicly loses control of her ability to generate ice. Up in the mountains and away from the townspeople, Elsa realizes that she no longer needs to hide her ability, and rejoices in being able to use her power freely, to "let it go".

During the song, Elsa travels up the North Mountain ; at first she is still scared and feels lonely, but now that everybody knows about her powers, she sees no point in hiding who she is, and begins to use them. They are slightly uncontrolled to begin with, but after she finally feels more comfortable and happy with where she is, she is calm enough to begin creating more specific objects like a set of stairs and her snowflake motif. Finally realizing the scope of her powers, she then goes on to build her ice palace. Elsa then declares that she will never go back, leaving the past in the past. After letting her hair down and creating her ice dress, Elsa walks out onto the balcony of her palace, revealing the mountain range, illuminated by the orange light of the rising sun.
