There is no variation in valve timing of the exhaust cam because the exhaust camshaft is driven by the timing belt.

After consulting "The Google", it seems it could be either the solenoid has gone bad, the crank position sensor is faulty, or that the timing chain could be stretched and is now lose. I checked the solenoid with my multimeter, it came back as 8. Not sure if being 1 Ohm overspec is enough to cause problems. I'd like to check the crank position sensor next if possible, but I'm not sure if I can test it with just a multimeter. Also seems to be a bit of a pain to get access to, so any tips there would be appreciated. Checking the chain seems to be as straightforward as taking the cam cover off the engine and visually inspecting the chain, but I would like to save that option for last if I can. Sometimes, the system will get stuck in an over-advanced position. Valve timing control methods can be quite different for every engine, even from the same manufacturer, but the basics are the same. Camshaft actuators or phasers change how long the intake and exhaust valves stay open. Some simpler systems change the cam timing, while others change cam profiles entirely. Bank one is the side of the engine with the first cylinder.

Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. Hello Tyler, thank you for your reply. The actuator is harder to test for with out engine disassembly, but you can pretty easily test for a stuck solenoid. Is it normal reading at with the fuel injectors? Let the engine idle again and see if it still stalls. I find the filter is pretty high up when going from the bottom and just makes it annoying to remove. Remember me.
