Jenny Doan is an American quilter , author, and YouTube personality. She rose to prominence as the face of Missouri Star Quilt Company , the largest quilting supply vendor in the United States. Doan showed an interest in sewing from an early age, eventually learning to sew with the 4-H Club youth organization at the age of ten. She maintained her interest in sewing throughout her adolescence and carried that into adulthood, making costumes for the local theater group when she was a newlywed. Demand was high and customers wanted additional fabric, so her son set up a website to sell additional materials. The videos taught viewers to make a quilt in a day using pre-cut materials, something Missouri Star Quilt Company specialized in. With each passing year, it became more expensive to live there, and then, out of nowhere, our youngest son Josh developed a tumor on his lymph gland. Thankfully he made it through, but the growing medical bills nearly bankrupted us. Like many small American towns, employment was scarce—many of our friends and neighbors had to travel long distances or leave the area altogether to find employment. It was disheartening to see the town that we had grown to love filled with abandoned buildings, falling into disrepair. For years, Ron traveled an hour and a half each way to work as a mechanic for the Kansas City Star newspaper. He worked long hours and many night shifts to support our family.
