Jacking point ford transit van

To my disbelief, both the owner's manual and the service manual basically say that you can only work on one of these vans on a lift because the only approved jacking locations are the 4 corners of the side sills straddling the pinch weld. Every other car I've ever worked on has specified those locations for the use of the roadside emergency jack but also listed locations for lifting it in the shop with a floor jack, jacking point ford transit van. They're usually on a crossmember, rear diff, etc, something that's well supported to the unibody. Just four outer spots. So what if you simply want to raise the back end, for example? Would you lift one rear corner and put a jack stand under that side, and then do the same with the other rear corner? The manual is quite something. For example, there is no listing for "Spare Tire" under the 'S' listings. Am I in some sort of parallel universe? Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. It may not completely balance but will give you enough time to a pair of jack stands for safety measure. Is the differential quite strong? Would the weight crush the differential housing into a crumpled mess?

Posted October 18, Functionally, there's also the point that having to jack the car one corner at a time to get all 4 corners in the air is a real pain in the butt and somewhat dangerous as it's VERY easy to get the car teetering on 2 stands without warning. I wish those pictures were a little better.. The rear makes sense to me, but it seems like you might have to crawl under the front to work the jack lever because the jack points are so far behind the front bumper. The spread of the arms adjusts for the distance between the front and rear jacking points on each side and that IS a potential problem.
