Is shanks strong
Warning: Contains spoilers for One Piece chapter After 25 years, One Piece finally reveals just how powerful Shanks really is. Ever since the early days of One Piece , Shanks has stood out as one of the more enigmatic figures, with the story doing very little to give explicit showings of his power and motivations. A lot of that has to do with how Shanks has had very little screen time since his debut, but regardless, the series has notoriously never given Shanks a true moment to shine. As of One Piece chapter , however, all of that changed in a big way. Shanks finally gets a proper chance to show off his power, and he does it in one of the biggest ways possible when he takes out Kid with a single attack, immediately kickstarting the destruction of the Kid Pirates as a whole. During the Wano arc, Kid was established as a top-tier fighter for not only being able to hold his own against Big Mom, but for how he was able to eventually defeat her with help from Law. With that in mind, if Shanks could so easily defeat Kid, then that would logically make Shanks stronger than Big Mom and one of the stronger members of the Four Emperors. The idea of Shanks being one of the strongest Emperors is even stronger when Kaido is taken into account. Considering how much the series had been building up Shanks finally taking on an active role, his having that sort of ranking would be more than appropriate. The exact power levels of characters like Blackbeard and the admirals are also unknown, so as it stands, there are plenty of people who could at least hold their own against Shanks. Of course, if anyone has a chance of beating Shanks, then it would have to be Luffy. Not only have the full abilities of Luffy's Gear 5 in One Piece not been explored yet, but since Shanks is someone Luffy has to defeat to become the Pirate King, there almost certainly has to come a point where Luffy definitively surpasses Shanks.
In combat, Shanks doesn't seem to rely on much. So far, he has had very limited appearances and usually, fans get to see him react to Luffy climbing up the ladder of piracy.
Red-Haired Shanks is one of One Piece's most important characters, being introduced into the story in the very first chapter. For decades now, Shanks has remained a bag of mysteries to the fans, appearing only on rare occasions. So far, he has had very limited appearances and usually, fans get to see him react to Luffy climbing up the ladder of piracy. On rare occasions, such as Marineford, Shanks became a presence important enough to stop the Paramount War with his mere presence, making fans wonder how strong he actually is. Over a decade after the Marineford war arc, fans still haven't seen a glimpse of what he is capable of in combat, however, with the story closer to its end than ever, the answers might not be too far away now. Without a doubt, this just goes to show that Shanks' ability is what the World Government fear and that his power is something truly spectacular. Shortly before Marineford, Shanks clashed with Kaido in the New World and while the battle was nothing more than a skirmish, he arrived on Marineford without even a single injury, showing that he was more than capable of matching Kaido as well. While the latter makes use of overpowered Devil Fruit abilities like the Gura Gura no Mi and the Yami Yami no Mi in combat, it would make sense for Shanks to have overpowered Haki to counter that. With that in mind, if Shanks could so easily defeat Kid, then that would logically make Shanks stronger than Big Mom and one of the stronger members of the Four Emperors.
