If, like me, your Insteon network is connected via the Hub, you will have now realized that the Insteon servers have gone dark today April 14, and that the Hub now has a permanent red LED. OH3 is still able to talk to my devices via the binding on the local network, so not every is lost. I was wondering if there would be a way to hack the hub to prevent it from trying to go out to the AWS Insteon servers and instead only work locally. My Insteon network has stopped twice in the last few days after being solid for years. Also a red light here. Same here.

Well this sucks that Insteon just shut down… Unfortunately trying to fix mine, I did a factory reset on my hub… am I completely pooched? F1 Thanks for your help! I was thinking of doing it because I want to remove all the automations from the hub and re-implement them in HA. Once re-linked, the device should be able to be controlled by HA again. Yes, thanks, I did see that. I was wondering at the underlying reason for it. Update- it appears based on posts below a factory reset is not the end. However, you are then stuck using the factory default login which is printed on the hub, and changing login info or network settings on the hub does not appear possible without the cloud. I looked into Insteon awhile back glad I avoided it now but never had any insteon devices myself. When Wink died, I looked desperately for a way to still use the radios in the hub independent of the cloud, but never found a way. Hopefully someone can find a way to get the Insteon to work without that initial cloud setup. I know if I had one I would be trying everything possible. Well, as far as I understand and I just gathered this randomly reading a few articles about Insteon going belly up , the PLM is basically the hardware interface using the RF and powerline protocol to communicate with the devices. That modem basically could either connect to your PC directly giving full local control or to Insteons own MCU with all the cloud stuff.

Just creating an item does not mean it is available to all uses to interact with. Most OH setups will have dozens of items that are just for internal functions and not meant to be user controlled at all. OH does not have enough a prior information and will not make any assumptions about how you want to any particular item without a little more input from you. That could be defining the item as part of the semantic model so that it shows up on one of the autogenerated pages, adding a widget for the item to one of the MainUI pages or selecting one of the other available UIs and configuring the item to be available through that UI. Some items will have a default widget that lets you interact with the item on that item details page. Ok, making some progress. I found that if I go back to the Main login page, ie.

I thought about it for about 10 seconds. Hamsterbrain April 18, , am Apparently standalone PLMs are not available anymore duh. You should be able to do everything that you were doing with insteon app plus much more with openHAB. It looks as if the problem is that OH is unable to get a login into the insteon Hub I've logged on successfully. Did you use the Home Assistant service call to put the hub into link mode to add the modules? Mark HS3 Pro 4. I used the QR code to get the login and password. If you are going from like OS to like OS, you can copy the installation folder. I reset the hub before trying so I could use the username and password on the bottom of the hub. How do I do this? Just use the low level serial modem interface. I sometimes repurpose some plug-in modules seasonally.
.
But the username and password did not allow me to log on. It says it returns an Empty Sitemap List. You can recover from a network settings reset, which sounds like what you were able to do. Also, I have not downloaded the plugin to the Homeseer hub as the directions stated to wait until successful sign to the insteon hub. This may take a bit of time. Log in. Problem resolved: I changed the Insteon hub credentials in OH to the factory credentials of my hub and it worked: the hub went online again but the hub light remains red. Yes, hoping someone far smarter than me will provide a solution and instructions that a lay person can implement.
