Houzz family room
Here is a two story family room that addresses a big blank wall. It might inspire you in some other directions for the family room I really think you should just cover up the tv niche with sheet rock to balance and even out the room. The fireplace definitely needs to be redone I also like the idea of coffered ceilings, but for now I need to work on the furniture and wall decor. Now I'm trying to figure out what I put on the sides of the tv if I keep it on the big wall. My husband is loving the set up. We currently have a chaise on the end of the sofa and therefore, in its current position, we have to walk around it to enter the room and access the rest of the couch. I know many of you have said to do away with the chaise if we leave the couch in this position, but I do LOVE my chaise. Since it is a family room, does anyone feel it is a mistake to keep a chaise there? I am going to have a few friends come in and see what they think of the new furniture configuration before moving forward. If you put the TV on the wall, get a much longer TV stand, one that covers most of the wall not occupied by seating. Then you really just need something to one side of the TV. Keep it simple.

Beautiful room Keena! Nice update on the mantel - you removed the television and replaced with a beautiful accent piece! A few suggestions though:. I actually like how you had it originally, even with the console table behind the sofa back to give a sense of "entry". Put two lamps behind sofa on console table or as a pair of floor lamps. Now, the sofa floats and is parallel to the club chairs and you have access to the seating area along the two sides of the sofa, the fireplace is reinforced as the focal point. Make adjustments to the position of the rug, making sure that AT LEAST all the front legs of the sofa and club chairs and ottoman possibly are on the rug.

I like neutral rooms, but I take issue with the black club chairs - they need to be somewhere else - maybe in a man cave, but they don't work with your soft, neutral, feminine feeling sofa.
