It felt like a trip back to a time when there were hardly any skycrapers to speak of. It just felt like a sense of Singapore in the early 70s; when Singapore River was still teeming with bumboats and large lorries plieds its narrow banks. But Georgetown is never as busy and bustling as Singapore. A five-minute taxi ride brought me to the hotel and I was just grateful to be able to talk to a hotel receptionist who was able to speak good English - and intuitive for a change. The staff were happy to change the room I had reserved as I preferred a room with twin beds rather than a room with a double bed.
