Home depot lockers
Home Depot has been installing lockers in many of its locations so customers who place online orders can easily pick up their merchandise at the store.
Instead of navigating the aisles of a cavernous big-box store, many Home Depot customers will soon be able to go right to a little box, grab what they ordered and head out the door. In the rush to compete in the new era of online shopping, Home Depot is joining other chains in modifying its stores to make them more convenient for those who buy on the website. In Home Depot's case, that means installing lockers near the front of its stores. Those who order merchandise from home are directed to the rows of orange boxes, where they unlock the designated one and then leave without having to seek assistance from an employee. Lockers are one way that chains such as Home Depot are trying to leverage their network of stores — usually one is within a few miles of most Americans — to provide customers with their merchandise soon after it is ordered. No waiting to have it delivered to their homes. In a way, the lockers give customers a taste of the experience some encounter with Amazon, which offers lockers to customers who don't want home delivery.

The Home Depot has come up with some great ideas which have helped earn it the title of fifth largest US retailer by ecommerce sales. It was also noted that nearly half of the orders placed online were picked up in-store. This led the retailer to look to Amazon for some inspiration on how to make this experience more streamlined for its customers. Image source: fool. I prefer ordering online and having items delivered to my door but recently I stumbled upon a good deal that did not offer shipping, only in store pickup. Luckily for me Home Depot now offers easy to use order pick up lockers and can skip the lengthy wait at the customer service desk. It then proceeds to open up your locker so you can access your purchase. This was way easier than waiting in line at the customer service desk and not to mention much faster. I was in and out in probably less than a minute and luckily for me there was no line. Big thumbs up to HD! Tool Craze does not handle the sale of any item in any way.
