The Hive is a Location in Hollow Knight. Please see Walkthrough for other areas. The Hive is an area that consists of a large community of bees and warriors in which a queen ruled and eventually, grew large until it could no longer leave - it was hidden away and was walled off from the kingdom of Hallownest to try and protect itself from the spread of The Infection. To reach The Hive, you'll need to find the Tram Pass which is found at the Failed Tramway in the northeast side of Deepnest and you'll need to have the Vengeful Spirit spell and at least the Monarch Wings and Mantis Claw abilities for traversing the area. Once you have the Tram Pass , ride the tram and go to the eastern side of the map towards Kingdom's Edge. From the tram, head east until you see a few small bees called Hivelings flying around, this indicates that you're near the entrance. Just behind the bees is a breakable wall which can only be destroyed by using the Vengeful Spirit spell - use the spell to open up the path that will take you to The Hive.

As part of the new lifeblood update which is currently in open beta , there have been some significant editions to the Hive, which in my opinion, and the opinions of most players was the most underdeveloped area in the game. Now we have a fully-fledged Hive which, with significant changes including the Hive Guardians, which now do 2 damage instead of 1, as well as the addition of Hive Knight, a new boss. Hive Knight is located in the same location as Queen Vespa, before you aquire the Hiveblood charm. This area always seemed like it should have had a boss; there was a boss room and everything, but there never was. Now, when you walk through this room, 2 doors will seal you in and Hivelings will start flying from the ceiling before the Hive Knight boss is initiated. If he is not saved before acquiring the Mantis Claw, he dies in this location, with his nail and shell remaining. Hitting his shell here grants the Neglect achievement.

Like their smaller kin, their only instinct is to protect the Hive at any cost to themselves. Somewhat clumsy, they'll often damage the structure of the Hive when charging at intruders. Does this cause them shame? I do not know whether they have the capacity for such a thing. Hive Guardians are enemies in Hollow Knight. They are huge bees whose only instinct is to guard the Hive by charging at intruders. Simply charges at the Knight , dealing 2 Masks of damage and rebounding off any terrain in its way. They can destroy cracked platforms, which can make platforming sections more difficult. Their massive size combined with their erratic bouncing movements makes them tricky to predict and avoid.
