The girls varsity game ended with Tenison Woods College beating the young Hockinson team,hockinson basketball, while the Titan boys defeated the Hawks, The night featured more than just basketball games though. We missed a lot of easy shots which allowed them to get the ball out and go. It just kind of spiraled from there. We kind of got down a little bit and lost guys defensively. But once the Hawks finally got a bucket, they went to work, forcing turnovers and scoring off them on three straight possessions to take the lead, and hitting another shot in transition off a giveaway at the buzzer to go ahead for good. Midway through the second quarter, the Tigers had kept the deficit to just three at , but for the remaining 21 minutes of gametime, the Hawks doubled their hosts up. The rest of the team, though, combined for just seven field goals, and as a group, the Tigers went 6 for 15 from the free-throw line. Landen Jenkins had six points. David Daarud led the Tigers with six rebounds, and added four points in the post. As a team, Centralia gifted Hockinson 23 turnovers. A couple of girls from Tenison Woods told Damon Roche, the Hockinson girls head coach, that the Hockinson band played the anthem perfectly. In honor of the special occasion, Hockinson students made welcome signs they placed above the visitors bench as well as the front entrance into the gymnasium. The band, the cheerleaders, the announcing, they certainly know how to build the game atmosphere. Adding to the special occasion, the players and coaches exchanged gifts after the games. He said he wishes his teams could play them more often, just for the experience, friendships and memories. First-year Hockinson boys basketball coach Dalton Rausch appreciated that Roche arranged for his team to play in an international competition as well. After the games, girls from both Hockinson and Tenison Woods teams mingled and promised to stay in contact.

Ryker Kitchen started off the run with a steal and made a layup. When all was said and done, Hockinson outscored Shelton in the third and carried the lead through the final quarter to capture a win in front of an energized home crowd. Hockinson advanced to the 2A district playoffs where it will play 2A Greater St. And luckily, we were on the positive side of that.
