The Heracleum collection was inspired by the Heracleum plant being frozen in time by this stunning design. The white leaves of the Heracleum are mimicked by the thin LED lights scattered along the suspended structure. Available in a linear, circular, and chandelier structure, this design has become incredibly popular and is also available in a selection of colour finishes. However, the Heracleum started out as an experiment in which Bertjan Pots enjoyed exploring the possibilities of the design inspiration and the materials. Pots soon discovered that lighting the large amount LEDs that he wanted for his design was going to be difficult due to the sheer amount of soldering that would have been required. Not willing to give up on his idea, he consulted the founder of Moooi, Marcel Wanders. This technique involved two layers of isolation and conductivity coated onto the structure and the conductive layer on top supplied the LEDs with power.
