Started by Raptorsin7 , February 21, Posted February 21, I thought his response to the allegations was very robotic and scripted, and I did not sense integrity or honesty how he responded to his critics. I like the idea of Dr K as a bridge between many different groups, but this video has really made me think about how to assess people like this. I'm still not sure who is in the right in this drama but I definitely get a sense that Dr K and his wife have large shadow traits and so the fact that they would be irresponsible with ethics is very believable. If I were in Dr K's position I would only refuse an open conversation if I had something to hide, and so his reluctance to answer the criticism directly is really telling. Posted February 21, edited.

A lot of the appeal of Dr. K likely comes from his background as well. Before getting into Harvard, he had dropped out of college due to poor grades and struggled with videogame addiction. There are the occasional posts where users celebrate their successes, but many of the posts display low self esteem, depression and occassionally suicidal ideation. There is also a troubling amount of incel-adjacent or straight-up misogynistic posts, perhaps something to be expected by a community marketed toward mentally ill gamers, but still concerning nonetheless. K has attempted to address this issue more than once, but it appears to still be a problem in some circles. Anecdotally, many of the same people who follow Healthy Gamer seem to also follow Jordan Peterson, a clinical psychologist who speaks online about similar issues concerning wellbeing and mental health but who also has consistently made transphobic and misogynistic statements. To his credit, I have never seen or heard of Dr.

K advocates for meditation for gamers because it helps improve focus and forces the practitioner to sit with their thoughts and feelings, instead of avoiding them via distractions like video games. He began helping them, but he soon realized that he did not have the time to provide support to everyone. Isn't it possible he is just engaging in those behaviors because of a lack of awareness around the harm they cause, and thus it warrants a response. Even though he once battled a gaming addiction — and even though he's now a father, husband, and full-time leader of HealthyGamerGG — Dr. Its possible I'm wrong on certain points, I guess the next step will be either a conversation between them or if there's an update from the ethica board.
