Everyone seems to have a strong opinion about hand-sketching these days. From personal experience, I know that sketching on paper has something powerful about it that takes my designs to the next level. To understand why hand-sketching makes such a difference for me and many designers I know, I did some research. They argued that representations such as diagrams and sketches serve our external memory and reduce the burden that we experience when recalling ideas and problem-solving.
