The Hairy Coo was established in by two well versed and enthusiastic Scottish tour guides who had a passion of showcasing their home to the rest of the world and proving that Scotland truly is the greatest wee country on Earth. They believed Scotland was much more than tartan and shortbread and wanted to share the culture, the personality and the brilliant sense of humour they grew up surrounded by. Despite years of experience in taking guests to breathtaking natural landscapes and world-class man-made sites across the country, along with sharing our extensive and fascinating history, it was evident that there was one certain animal that was stealing the attention of everyone on board — Highland Cattle. After purchasing a bright orange bus, the pair set off on the road with the intention of bringing as many people on board with them as possible, no matter their financial situation. They pioneered the first Free Highland Coach Tour in the world and for years maintained the company by contributing all tips and donations toward running the tour the following day, and the day after, and the day after that. After realising they had the full support of returning visitors, they took the leap to fully invest in the company and began their first paid tour to Loch Ness. Since then, we have welcomed over , adventurers and have grown to add tours that visit all corners of the country, spanning days. Everyone working for the company does so because they believe in the values of why it was first started. Our buses are upgraded regularly and are well looked after. To this day, The Hairy Coo continues to be an independently owned and run Scottish business.
