I think if people can get over the strong initial emotional reaction toward this technique, they will discover natural rats to be far superior to their foam counterparts. I would have never considered doing this. After about 10 years of short hair, I've recently grown my hair out to shoulder length and have been experimenting with different ways of styling my hair - so maybe I'll consider it.
