The attending police officers treated the rucksack as if were simply an item of found property and failed to carry out any form of investigation into the rucksack and its contents. On 18 June Gracie was unlawfully killed by the supervisor who she had reported to Derbyshire Constabulary in February Gracie died as a result of a stab wound to the neck.
