After the assassination of her father, Yara lays claim to the Iron Islands , but when the ironborn choose her uncle Euron , who murdered Balon, as their next king , she and Theon flee with a portion of the Iron Fleet and their loyal followers. Yara and Theon become allies with Daenerys Targaryen. Yara is then captured by her uncle when he attacks the Targaryen fleet, though she is later freed by Theon and their remaining loyalists. Intent on claiming the Salt Throne , Yara sails what remains of her army to successfully retake the Iron Islands. She was born and raised at Pyke.

Theon Greyjoy returns to the Iron Islands. Asha wants to know how time has changed Theon, so she flirts with him, pretending to be, Esgrid a shipwright's wife. When he later learns that she's his sister, he is furious with her, and even angrier that their father favors her. She goes to Theon after he takes Winterfell , in answer to his calls for more men, but only brings him ten men to help him keep the castle. She has come primarily to get him to leave Winterfell, as the castle is too far from the sea for them to enforce or supply.

Aeron says that perhaps she will win and become the got asha woman in history to rule the Iron Islands but then again, perhaps not. Asha successfully infiltrates the castle, reaches the kennels where she sees Theon in a cage, got asha.
