This is just my ranking of the ones I have read. This book. The writing was so strong and emotional and raw. It really stood out for showing emotions well and for developing characters. I felt such a connection to the characters. As far as the retelling aspect goes, I thought Anderson did a wonderful job. The plot was basically a prequel to the original, and followed a different main character, which gave an excellent new perspective and kept it from being too similar to the original.

But when you really look into the cover, you are able to notice how degrading they are towards women. In every single cover, the woman is wearing a skimpy dress that is carefully falling off of her shoulders, and the MAN is coming to save her from whatever is happening. In almost every single cover, the woman is skinny, white, and somehow has a perfect complexion. Lately, that has all started to change. Not to mention, more people are able to see themselves in these novels. From all white, size zero models, on the cover of these books, publishers have turned the page to plus sized, people of color, and over all more diverse, and not to mention realistic, covers. These covers allow, not only for people to be seen within the cover, but also to be heard within the story about the struggles the characters face. The love story of white women is very different from the love story of black women, or asian women, or plus sized women, or the billions of other women who make up this world; all of them come back to the basic ideas of wanting love and compassion.
