Violence: There's a lot of fighting in this show, and it's very realistic about showing the blood and other damage the characters sustain from their battles. When I get asked about a series, the first thing to do is check the most obvious: read reviews and check with the publisher for their recommended age rating. Age ratings are particularly noticeable and explained on manga series check out VIZ and Yen Press , but mainstream comics publishers use them as well, including DC and Marvel.

I would recommend watching some yourself before you introduce it to your kids. It explores some mature theme that may not be suitable even for some young adults. It all depends on if you think as a parent that your child is old enough to understand the concepts of the show because it gets quite deep and is most definitely the only show of its kind. Winry has a bath scene where the breast and body is seen but no nipples, there is also a scene with winry where she is changing and pulls up her top and the bottom half of breast shows. Despite many setbacks in their search for the philosopher's stone, the boys never give up until they reach their goal. Edward and Alphonse provide the moral anchor for the series.

But all in all, its a series about two brothers who made a mistake and are striving to fix it. Pros: self-sacrifice, perseverance, brotherly love, recognizing one's own mistakes, and humility. Fullmetal Alchemist is likely okay for most middle schools, depending on their tolerance for some serious topics and violence. Several symbols such as pentagrams or a serpent on a cross appear as alchemical symbols, but in the story they have no connection to the real-world symbols. Content Overview Violence : 6.
