To get to the Forest Temple, your first true challenge as grown-up Link, go back to your hometown in Kokiri Village. After entering the villiage, walk to the left and around the front of the first tree hut. To the right of the house will be a ledge. Here you find Mido who is faithfully standing guard and will not let you pass. After speaking to him, stand close to him and play Saria's Song. He will let you pass. From there go straight, left and finally right to reach the Sacred Forest Meadow. Getting through the meadow isn't terribly complicated, but you'll have to make sure that the guards' backs are turned to you. Use L-triggering to peak around corners and hide in the nooks when the guards come charging.
