I checked the owner's manual and it states orange coolant, I popped the hood and it has orange coolant installed from the factory bought new. O'Reilly's said they could get it but it's not carried in the store and I'd have to pay for shipping to the store from Motorcraft. I then looked further online and I see other conversations about orange being obsolete now. What's up with that? Before I go beating my head against the wall trying to find this elusive orange coolant, has Ford said that the yellow coolant is okay to use in vehicles that originally came from the factory with orange stuff? Judging by the ingredients, the Motorcraft coolant does not have silicates or phosphates, but uses ethylene glycol and an hexanoate additive. Couldn't find anything that looked similar in Advanced Auto Parts and O'Reilly's around here, and only the dealers seem to have the Motorcraft brand. As a casual car guy, I find it especially disturbing that the color-coding isn't consistent. Maybe orange, maybe pink, who knows?
