Erin and Chris Benzakein moved from Seattle, Washington to the Skagit Valley in order to pursue a slower, simpler life and raise their children surrounded by nature. Soon after buying a small house in the country, they tilled up their plot in order to create a huge garden. After sharing some of the blooms with friends and neighbors, word got out and Erin started receiving orders. The following year Erin replaced all of the vegetables in her garden with flowers. Floret expanded year after year, eventually filling every corner of the tiny 2-acre plot with flowers destined for grocery stores, florists, bouquet subscriptions, and weddings. Floret later expanded into specialty flower seed and now offers a collection of farm-bred varieties, along with tools and gardening supplies through the Floret Shop. From to , Floret hosted more than 25 on-farm workshops focused on seasonal flower production and natural floral design.

Research is at the heart of our operation, and we conduct extensive trials to find the very best cut flower varieties, coveted for their scent, stem length, and ethereal qualities, and share our findings with the world. We are working on breeding new cut flower varieties which we lovingly call Floret Originals that will help give local growers an advantage in the marketplace and open up a whole new world of possibilities for the seasonal flower movement. Five years ago, an anonymous benefactor surprised Benzakein with a shipment of 20 tubers of 'Castle Drive', an obscure cultivar she'd spent months trying to locate. Says Benzakein, "We wait all year for this window of time. Fifteen years ago, Benzakein was just a novice gardener. One fall day, she helped a friend dig up her tubers, took some home as a gift, and planted them in her vegetable garden the following spring. The sheer abundance and variety of blooms that popped up a few months later blew her away.

We grow and sell fresh cut flowers and farm produce. We also curate small-scale classes and workshops that are often enhanced by our flowers. We sell to flower-loving retail, as well as wholesale customers looking for beautiful and unique local flowers. Bouquets, arrangements, and bulk buckets are some of our offerings. We are a sister-owned floral design studio based in the Nashville area that creates garden-inspired designs that are intentional, romantic, and timeless. Our approach is all about sustainably enhancing the beauty of each venue through nature and creating a cohesive aesthetic that perfectly complements each wedding day.

Growing Floret is a documentary series that chronicles Floret, a family-run flower farm located in the Skagit River Valley of Washington State. Founders Erin and Chris Benzakein have spent the last 15 years building their business, now considered by many to be one of the most well-known flower farms in the world. Emmy-nominated season 1 documents the transformation of the farm and the people of Floret for an entire year. Each episode is centered around a specific season and explores what it takes to grow a heart-centered, creative business.
