Everyone who has played an open-world RPG knows the struggle of having to limit the amount of loot and supplies you can carry on your person. Fallout 4 is no exception, with our inventory being limited by our carry weight capacity. Your player character starts with a base carry capacity of , with an additional 10 added for every level up point you put into the strength slot. But fortunately, there are plenty of ways to increase what you can carry with you. Like other FPS era Fallout games, your movement speed is unaffected by your carry weight until you are over-encumbered, thus preventing you from running, sprinting or fast traveling. Consumable aid items can provide useful increases in carry capacity for a short period of time, including food, drinks and chems. Drinks such as alcohol or chems like buffout and X-cell can increase your strength temporarily as well. Perks can also be a handy way to gain a larger carry limit in a short amount of time, such as Strong Back, which increases your capacity by up to 50, or the Lone Wanderer, which increases carry capacity by every time you travel without a companion aside from Dogmeat. Strong Back is especially useful by negating some penalties for being over-encumbered, such as being able to fast travel or even allowing you to run normally. However, this will drain your stamina bar as if you were sprinting. And yes, you can add those same modifications to power armor pieces. A new way of increasing your limit has been with the introduction of the Creation Club. These are officially licensed mods that can add all kinds of new features to the game and its DLCs. One useful item is the backpack clothing item, which, when equipped, can drastically increase your carry capacity whenever you need to take a long haul across the wasteland.
