And what is the difference between adaptation an mutation? I want to farm those cold-warped lockboxes in pagos and the special lockboxes in general. Is there a guide that describes how I can farm those boxes effectively? And what prerequisites have to be met to make monsters mutate? Would be great if someone could answer this Only posting here because it was at the top of google search. IIRC, only certain spawned mobs can mutate or adapt. Mutations require specific mobs during specific weather.

If you're just starting out on your grand Eorzean adventures, you can safely set all thoughts of Eureka aside for a good long time.
