Print Thread. Does it matter which way it's installed? Raised embossed side towards block or heads on iron head ? Mr Gasket has been of no help and their instructions make no mention of it other than to say no sealer is required with these gaskets. Heads are already installed with one head gasket installed "up" and the other "down" Don't ask. Thanks for your replies. I cant imagine it would matter either way. Are these the MLS gaskets or the single layer steel shim gaskets? The up side is supposed to be Up as mounted on the block. It will most likly seal in either direction. My Guess for the Embossed side being down would be The gasket lays flat on its embossed surfaces on the block, while the headsits on top the nonembossed side of the gasket and is tightend down. In doing so it skootches around just abit in the process on the non embossed side.
